RILEM International Symposium on Environment-Conscious Materials and Systems for Sustainable Developments

Innovations – New Developments – New Challenges

TC192- ECM & TC194- TDP

College of Engineering, Nihon University, Koriyama, Japan

September 6-7 2004 RILEM Week

Final call for papers

Mass-Production-mass-consumption-mass waste disposal systems are threatening the eco-system and involve overuse of natural resources.  The development of environmental conscious construction materials and systems becomes a major challenge for the construction industry.

The ECM2004 symposium offers a forum for the presentation and confrontation of recent developments, new and innovative concepts to meet the continuously updating environmental requirements of the society.

Sustainable industrial production can only allow a degree of pollution and resource consumption that can be recovered by the eco-system construction industry is dealing with this problematic in two ways: limiting pollution and enhancing the eco-system recovery potential.

The symposium organizers invite contributions in line with this dual approach for the following topics:

1. Recycling (of waste materials and components)

2. Production of sustainable materials and buildings

3. Application of TiO2 photocatalysis

4. Environmentally-friendly material

5. Environmental assesment

Possibilities for presentation/ symposium activities

  1. Presentation of full written papers to be published in proceedings
  2. Forum presentations and discussions (handouts) on new developments and challenges
  3. Poster presentation, special poster session, abstract will be published in proceedings
  4. Technical and/or commercial exhibition, 5 minutes presentation during special session

The authors of selected papers will be invited to elaborate their contribution for a special issue of the RILEM International Journal Materials and Structures.
