Benchmark Problems for Acoustical Parameters

Category and Usage

  • The following benchmark problems are ready to check the algorithm of own programs:

    • Basic Problems (A):

The impulse responses in these problems consist of very amenable impulse responses. We recommend that you start from these problems to check your programs.

    • Intermidiate Problems (B):

These problems are useful to CHECK algorithms in your programs to the acoustical parameters. Please challenge these problems and check the reliability of own programs.

    • Problems for the measured impulse responses in actual rooms (C):

The impulse responses in these problems are the measured responses in actual rooms. These responses are rarely measured. Therefore, calculating the value of parameters from them is a little difficult.

  • Required parameters to calculate the value are different in each problem respectively. Required parameters are written in the problem statement at the top of page.

  • Please find values of 6 bands from 125 Hz to 4 kHz 1/1 Octave band center frequency except STI.

  • The two kinds of format (floating-point binary format and RIFF wave audio format) of impulse responses are ready in each problem. Please use either of the data format that is earsier to deal with.

  • The characteristics of impulse response and significant points to calculate are written in "Note".

  • The calculation results by the WG members are placed to compare with your own results.

  • Important things to caluclate these parmeters are organized as "Columns".
